World's best stir fry

Stir fry’s seem so – easy – that they shouldn’t need a recipe. But I was so excited by this I just had to share. We are staying at my parent’s place and decided to whip up a stir fry for tea. Mum powered on and chopped up


bok choy





yellow, green and red capsicum




snow peas

and garlic!

Chopped veggies

For the sauce we mixed rice malt syrup, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and sesame oil. Personally I would add fresh ginger and chilli. Mum is definitely not friends with ginger however!

Add to that some almonds! It’s one of those times when you know your  body is loving you for it 🙂

  1. I was wondering what rice syrup was and where you buy it? Is there something else I can substitute for it that’s still healthy?

    • Honey would work. Agave and honey require about the same amount re substitution where as rice syrup uses less because it is very sweet. Brown rice syrup and agave just break down more slowly in the body so diabetics, for example, can eat them (they are low GI). Agave is vegan, whereas honey is not, although Agave is still a high fructose syrup so even though it is health-ier it is still not necessarily “healthy”. But in terms of making a stir fry, you can use what you normally use. Maple syrup would be fine too. Sorry for the long response!
